Title: Outreach Specialist
Hours: Part-Time (30 Hours per week, non-exempt) – grant funded position .
Reports To: Census Coordinator
Purpose: Outreach Specialists provide outreach, education and one-on-one support to our community members
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and implement creative strategies to effectively reach hard-to-reach refugee populations that comply with physical distancing safety guidelines including social media posts, videos, radio spots, posters and more.
- Work with other FIRM staff to achieve outcomes of grant program.
- Help assist community members with completing their Census through online portal, telephone or paper Coordinate and/ or provide monthly updates to the Hmong, Laotian, Khmer and Arabic-speaking communities on the Census or other assigned grant programs through social and ethnic media
- If safe, attend community outreach events to provide outreach and education
- Work with community partners and organizations as needed or directed by supervisor. All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Strong design skills and social media experience
- At least 1 year of experience working in community outreach or education programs High school Diploma / General Education
- Connection to the Southeast Asian, Arab or other refugee communities in Fresno County
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across different contexts (in-person, online, radio or tv) Resourceful, excellent problem solver
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Ability to log activity and complete reports in a timely manner Reliable transportation, insurance coverage and valid driver’s license Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and regular use of e-mail
Preferred:
- Experience working in a non-profit work environment
- Experience doing community education or outreach in person and online
- Fluency in speaking and writing a language spoken by refugee families in Fresno County
Compensation:
- $14.00 – $16.00/ Hour DOE
- Mileage Reimbursement
