The refugee communities is often unaware of programs, services and other information due to the fact that many materials are not distributed in their languages. FIRM takes this very seriously and regularly shares information about various resources for the refugee community. Here are the current outreach programs and methods we operate:
California Poison Control

The California Poison Control System (CPCS) provides immediate, free and expert treatment advice and referral over the telephone in case of exposure to poisonous or toxic substances. Pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and poison information providers answer the calls to 1-800-222-1222 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. FIRM provides outreach and education about this valuable resource and other poison control related information to the Hmong, Laotian and Slavic communities. Please contact Ka Shoua Thao at [email protected]. She is our CA Poison Control Program Coordinator for more information.
