The FIRM preschool first opened its doors to the community in 2003. The primary goal of the preschool is to prepare children to be ready for formal education. Staff ratios are kept low for personal attention, with one teacher for every eight children. Participation in the FIRM preschool results in children who can maintain healthy family relationships and are prepared to succeed in American public school.
The preschool director, Charlotte Miranda, oversees the entire preschool program, supervises the teaching staff, and organizes parent meetings. Her favorite part of her job is, “the children. I love interacting with the kids and their families and getting to know them. After spending so much time with them, you get attached and it’s like they become your little friends. So it’s fun –it’s really fun.”
The Preschool is open from 7:00 AM-5:30 PM Monday-Friday. Children are fed breakfast, lunch and a snack daily. Naptime is from 12:30-2:30. Tuition is $125/week for full time, full day care, 5 days per week. Half-day rates are also available.
Charlotte is hosting an Open House on August 1st with sessions 9am-12pm and 3pm-6pm at the FIRM preschool at 1940 N. Fresno Street. The Open House will offer information about the preschool program as well as the new Family Literacy Program and how children and families can enroll. Refreshments will be provided.
The Family Literacy Program is a fun educational program that is free for the entire family! Families participate one day per week and work together to practice literacy skills through educational games, phonics, reading, writing, field trips, community events, and book lending. This program is not childcare; parents must come with their children.
