FIRM has been at the foreground of providing accurate and quality information about COVID-19 in multiple languages to Fresno’s refugee and immigrant communities since March 2020. We are proud to announce we have signed two contracts to provide community health workers and contact tracing services to the City of Fresno and Fresno County in Hmong, Lao, Khmer, Arabic, Russian and Ukranian languages, thanks to CARES funding.
We have partnered with the City and County of Fresno, a coalition of Refugee and Immigrant-serving organizations led by Fresno Building Healthy Communities, a coalition of African-American-serving organizations led by Fresno EOC, UCSF Fresno, and other medical providers to launch the COVID-19 Equity Project (CEP). We are supported by Central Valley Health Policy Institute (CVHPI) to provide training and evaluation.

Free COVID-19 tests (Rapid and PCR) are available Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm and Saturday 10 am to 2pm at 2630 E. Weldon Ave on FIRM’s campus through UCSF. Preregistration is available here but is not required. No insurance information is collected.
With the funding, we have hired a variety of new staff members as community health workers. They provide health education, outreach and support applying for programs in 7+ languages. Some have worked with FIRM before and are trusted members of the communities we serve, and others are new faces who are eager to help.
