To honor and remember Neng‘s legacy of service, advocacy, and leadership, the Thao family set up an annual scholarship in his name through FIRM. This will be the fifth year in which this scholarship will be awarded to a young person from the Central Valley who exemplifies Neng’s service to the community and academic excellence. The scholarship will be awarded at a special ceremony at FIRM on Neng Thao Day, Sunday, May 29, 2022. You can donate to support the scholarship here.
All first-time freshmen who are from the Central Valley and are dedicated to serving and strengthening the Southeast Asian Community are encouraged to apply. The scholarship form can be accessed here and must be submitted by 11:59PM on April 30th, 2022. To prepare for the application, please submit an unofficial copy of your high school transcript to [email protected] and draft 300-word responses to the following questions. We encourage applicants to write their responses elsewhere first because the Google Form doesn’t save until you submit.
Why is education important to you? (300 word maximum)
Tell us about your involvement in advocacy and/or leadership in the community. Why are you involved in these types of activities? (300 word maximum)
What do you see yourself doing in 10 – 15 years? (300 word maximum)
How will this scholarship help you pursue your goals. (300 word maximum)
All applications will be judged blindly by a panel of family members, FIRM staff, and community partners. We look forward to celebrating the leadership, passion and vision of our future leaders at this year’s ceremony. Please encourage any first-time incoming freshmen in your life to apply.
